The Gallery of Design in the College of Design focuses exhibitions on architecture, industrial design, interior design, landscape architecture, planning, and visual communication design. Changing exhibitions feature top student work for each semester, faculty research and design projects, furniture, and special exhibitions from local, national, and international designers. A flat projection monitor provides a changing mural of design work, college information, and announcements.
In the fall 2006, the gallery will feature Unintended Consequences. This exhibition seeks to explore the role that regulations, restrictions, laws, zoning, codes, and other enforceable mandates have on our surroundings. Contributors to the exhibition include college faculty and PhD students and members of the Phoenix community who seek to suggest creative alternatives and explore the value of design thinking on the physical, social, and cultural landscape. Unintended Consequences is a companion exhibition with the ASU Art Museum’s New American City exhibition, which will open September 9 at the museum.
