Healthcare and Healing Environments Concentration

The concentration in Healthcare and Healing Environments is a joint initiative with ASU’s College of Nursing and Health Innovation. Its research activities are underpinned by evidence-based design, a direction in design that relies on research and investigation.

Several faculty members are at the core of the research in this area. They include: Jamil AlShraiky, assistant professor, with his extensive experience as a healthcare architect and a medical planner in North America, Asia and the Middle East; and, Aisling Kelliher, assistant professor, with her research interests in reflective practice, rich-media storytelling, media annotation and archiving, social networks and participatory design.
