SCHOOL OF PLANNING

APPLY TO THE MASTER OF URBAN AND ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING

The following are required to apply to the MUEP program:

  • Online Application (www.asu.edu/graduate/admissions)
  • Application Fee
  • Official Transcripts (sent directly from the institution to Graduate Admissions)
  • Statement of Intent (600 words maximum) explaining:
    (a) the applicant’s interest in planning
    (b) the applicant’s academic background and, if appropriate, preparation for the selected area of specialty: Community and Urban Development or Environmental Planning (these may include written samples or a portfolio)
    (c) the applicant’s educational objectives
  • Resume
  • Three letters of recommendation (preferably academic, could be professional). Students must have the recommender use the recommendation form. Students have two options to return letters of recommendation: 1) have the recommender mail in the letter or 2) submit letters with a complete application packet; letters must be sealed and the recommender's signature must be across the seal in ink. Letters must be in English.

GRE is NOT required

TOEFL Scores
The MUEP program considers the TOEFL score in its overall evaluation of each applicant. Minimum score requirements are listed below. Higher scores are preferred and considered when making admission decisions.

Minimum TOEFL Scores required for the MUEP degree:

Internet based:              88–89

Computer based:          230


Written minimum:          550

**Only complete applications will be reviewed and

    considered. Applications for Fall 2008 are due

    January 15, 2008.
