Roozbeh Valamanesh is a Clincial Assistant Professor in Industrial Design. Prior to this appointment he served as an assistant professor of Industrial Design at The Ohio State University. His educational background includes a B.Des. (2007) in Industrial Design from Azad University of Art and Architecture, Tehran, IR and an MSD – Industrial Design (2012) from Arizona State University. Professor Valamanesh has extensive experience as a product designer, scholar and educator. He has been an entrepreneur for two start-ups since 2005 while being active as a traditional industrial designer and educator.
At Ohio State, he has taught in both undergraduate and graduate programs. He has taught design studios at all levels, has an extensive background in technology related courses, and has advised MFA theses.
Roozbeh’s research interests revolve around democratization of technology. His research has and will investigate personal fabrication concepts from differing aspects namely: sustainability, materiality, culture and lifestyle, social impact, marketing and entrepreneurship. He utilizes 3D printers and other digital fabricators to create objects and evaluate processes and methods. His research also explores infrastructure that the new generation of makers would need.
