Fabrications Lab Specialist - 83882BR

The Design School at the Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts seeks a high-performing, positive and service oriented individual with excellent attention to detail to plan, schedule and coordinate student/faculty shop activities. Trains students/faculty in the safe and efficient use of shop facilities and equipment. Coordinates with faculty and students model construction process based on current semester syllabus. Recommends various types of materials based on the structural construction of prototype model. Works closely with students from the design stages of prototype fabrication intent. Evaluates student’s geometry files and sketches and recommends proper fabrication from hand tools, power tools, and conventional equipment up to CNC, 3D printing, or Laser digital equipment. Maintains and performs minor repairs and setups on shop equipment and tools. Reports equipment issues and makes new equipment recommendations to shop manager. Maintains shop clean and organized at all times.  This position reports to the Model and Prototype Shop Manager
