Graphic Design Faculty Associate

e Design School in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at ASU invites applications for part-time Graphic Design Faculty Associate appointments for Fall 2026 and/or Spring 2027. We are seeking Faculty Associates with expertise in various areas of design to teach undergraduate courses.

Specializations may include developing designs in analog and digital formats for motion design, 3D design, creative exploration, project management, professional development, interactive design, accessible design, or focused segments such as visual storytelling, typography, layout design, color theory, branding, and information design skills. The successful candidate(s) will teach in-person or online courses, prepare course materials, evaluate student work, and assist students. Faculty Associates positions are one semester, non-benefits eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed .40 FTE. 

The number of courses is contingent upon needs, funding and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits-eligible appointments at Arizona State University. 

Faculty Associate assignments are paid $1,500-$2,000 per credit hour, depending on the component, over the length of the session.

Anticipated start date is: Fall 2026, Spring 2027 Session A, B, or C

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design
  • At least two (2) years of professional Graphic Design experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of design methodologies and professional practice.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Understanding of project management for concurrent projects and multiple deadlines.
  • Familiarity with video production, workflows, and motion graphics, or interactive media.
  • Experience designing accessible digital content that aligns with accessibility standards.
  • Strong visual storytelling, typography, layout, color theory, branding, and information design skills.
