Job description:
The Design School at Arizona State University invites applications for a benefits-eligible position as an Instructor in Interior Design. This will be a nine-month, fixed-term appointment starting in the Spring 2023 semester. This position is renewable on an annual basis contingent upon the availability of resources, satisfactory performance, and the needs of the unit. This position is located on the ASU Tempe Campus.
The successful candidate is expected to actively participate in teaching courses in the Interior Design programs. The appointee will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level studio courses as well as lecture/seminar courses in these degree programs. The successful candidate should be able to teach via in person, online and hybrid formats.

The Interiors program features a strong, diverse faculty and growing student enrollment. The interior design program offers an acclaimed four-year undergraduate program in interior design, which leads to a degree of Bachelor of Science in Design as well as a 3+ or 2-year graduate professional program, which leads to a Master of Interior Architecture degree. Both programs are accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation. The Interiors program also supports two broader graduate programs, the Master of Science in Design and Doctor of Philosophy in Design, Environment and the Arts.
Required qualifications:
- A degree in interior design or related field; a master’s degree is required for international applicants;
- A minimum of two years of experience working in the design profession;
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging;
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Desired qualifications:
- A graduate degree in interior design or related field;
- Experience teaching university-level interior design or interior architecture studios and related technical courses;
- Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable design practices, sustainable material, workplace design, adaptive reuse, and spatial branding;
- NCIDQ Certification.

The application deadline is November 30, 2022. Applications will continue to be accepted on a rolling basis for a reserve pool. Applications in the reserve pool may then be reviewed in the order in which they were received until the position is filled.
