Job description:

The Landscape Architecture Program in The Design School at Arizona State University is hiring a full-time Lecturer beginning August 2022. 

The Landscape Architecture Program seeks a colleague who will help further the mission of ASU and The Design School. The successful candidate is expected to actively participate in the BSLA, MLA, MUD, and BSED programs with faculty, staff, and greater communities. The appointee will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate-level studio courses and lecture/seminar courses, be an active presence in the school, be involved in service to the program and school, and actively seeks professional and pedagogical development in the field of landscape architecture, urban design, and environmental design. Candidates should also demonstrate and uphold standards of teaching excellence. Candidates must be prepared to teach in multiple formats, including in person, hybrid, and fully online.

The Design School Landscape Architecture Program is one of the flagship programs in the United States. The Program offers an acclaimed and accredited four-year undergraduate program in Bachelor of Science in landscape architecture (BSLA) and an accredited Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) program by the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB). In addition, our Program offers Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design (BSED) and Master of Urban Design (MUD).  The Program also supports the Doctor of Philosophy in Design, Environment and the Arts. Required qualifications:

• A professional accredited degree in landscape architecture
• A minimum of three years’ of experience working in the landscape architecture, urban design, and environmental design professions;
• A minimum of one years’ of experience teaching landscape architecture, urban design, and environmental design studios and courses related to the applicant’s area of expertise;
• Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in teaching and service efforts.

Desired qualifications:

• A graduate degree in landscape architecture, urban design, environmental design, or related field in social and nature sciences;
• Professional Landscape Architecture licensure
• Demonstrated experience in digital and computer applications as related to disciplinary practice and/or design education;
• Demonstrated experience engaging community in the design process;
• Demonstrated experience in LEED, SITEs, and landscape performance research and design evaluation;
• Experience teaching in multiple formats, including in person, hybrid, and fully online courses.
