Architecture Faculty Associate
The Design School in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at ASU invites applications for part-time Faculty Associate appointments for Spring 2026. The successful candidate(s) will teach in-person or online courses, prepare course materials, evaluate student work, and assist students. Faculty Associates positions are one semester, non-benefits eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed .40 FTE. The number of courses are contingent upon needs, funding and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates may not hold multiple, non-benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.
Faculty Associate assignments are paid $1500-2000 per credit hour, depending on the component, over the length of the session.
Anticipated start date is: Spring 2026 Session A, B, or C
Essential Duties:
- Prepare and deliver course content, including lectures, exercises, and critiques.
- Evaluate student work and provide timely feedback.
- Assist students through office hours, seminars, or online forums.
- Support course administration as needed (e.g., syllabus preparation, coordination with teaching assistants).
- Teach in one or more of the following modalities: in person, online, or hybrid.
Working Environment:
The successful candidate(s) will teach in-person or online courses:
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled classroom setting, subject to extended periods of standing, lecturing, and facilitating classroom activities
- Frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
- Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
- Occasional activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
- Clearly communicate to perform essential functions
- Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals

- A Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture
- At least two (2) years of professional architectural experience
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate or graduate level.
- Demonstrated knowledge of architectural design methodologies and professional practice.
